Our Aim

At St. Sampson's Infant School we believe all children should experience a happy, stimulating and challenging environment where they have opportunities to learn to:

  • be self confident
  • always try their best
  • show respect for others and the environment
  • become self motivated
  • be independent
  • show understanding of others needs
  • respond positively to new challenges

We believe the strong partnership between home, school and the local community plays a vital part in the children's learning. We will strive to continually develop and improve the curriculum and our ways of working so that all the children have a truly broad, creative and balanced education.

Facilities

St. Sampson's Infant School was opened in 1979, and consists of three double units built around a central courtyard.
As you enter the school through the front entrance there is also a hall and an administration area.
The library extension was built by the Home School Association (HSA) during the Summer of 1997 and also accommodates an ICT suite for children to develop their computer skills.
The Sunflower and Cornflower extensions were completed in 2009 providing extra learning spaces for the children.
Surrounding the school are hard play, grass and garden areas. The children use the whole school environment in their learning.

School Organisation

The school consists of three year groups – Reception (YR), Year One (Y1) and Year 2 (Y2). Children normally spend 8 or 9 terms in the Infant school according to when they are admitted. Depending on the numbers in each group, classes may be made up of more than one year group. Class sizes are usually 20-30 by the Summer Term. See the Classes page for more information.
